The Croft is a small holding of 42.5 hectares, 16 of which are in the village of Houghton just north of Carlisle the remainder at Armathwaite beside the river Eden.
Cumberland show, Sat 19th July in Rickerby Park, Carlisle. Remember to visit the Hadrian Organics stall in the Food Hall marquee, where Longhorn beef, New season's lamb and soft fruit all from The croft will be on sale
Pedigree Longhorn cattle raised at The Croft live out all year, in the winter being fed on hay made at The Croft. Geese are raised for the Christmas market.
Longhorn cattle are a traditional Cumbrian breed. A small flock of mule ewes is kept and the cross bred Suffolk lambs are sold direct, like the beef, the lamb is delicious. Organic, free-range Geese are finished for the Christmas market.The goslings have arrived and orders are alredy being taken !
The Croft is open for educational visits and students wanting work experience prior to studying veterinary science or agricultural related subjects are welcomed.
