Silver Lea

is a small family farm 4 miles north of Carlisle, on the edge of Scaleby Moss. It comprises 40 hectares of agricultural land and 30 hectares of moss and woodland.
The Scaleby Moss area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The land has always been farmed non intensively and achieved full organic status in August 2001.
Since then the cattle produced on the farm, which are all Limous, have been sold either to a retailer or direct to customers. Limousine cross cattle produces particularly lean, high quality meat. We hang our meat for 3 weeks to ensure optimum flavour and texture.
