Eva's Organics
The Eva's Organics Box Scheme is a convenient way for you to enjoy fresh, local, organic fruit and vegetables all year round. We are Soil Association certified growers of organic fruit and vegetables making regular home deliveries in Brampton, Carlisle, Penrith, Keswick, Cockermouth, Annan, Gretna, Lockerbie, Hexham and all around north and west Cumbria, west Northumberland and south Dumfriesshire.
Silver Lea
Silver Lea is a small family farm 4 miles north of Carlisle, on the edge of Scaleby Moss. It comprises 40 hectares of agricultural land and 30 hectares of moss and woodland.
The Scaleby Moss area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The land has always been farmed non intensively and achieved full organic status in August 2001.
Slack House
Slack House is a 45 hectare, upland, certified organic dairy and stock farm on the edge of the Bewcastle Fells overlooking Hadrian's Wall. The Roman road from Birdoswald to Bewcastle crosses the farm.
Our main enterprise is our pedigree herd of home bred Ayrshire cows.
The Croft
The Croft is a small holding of 42.5 hectares, 16 of which are in the village of Houghton just north of Carlisle the remainder at Armathwaite beside the river Eden.
Pedigree Longhorn cattle raised at The Croft live out all year, in the winter being fed on hay made at The Croft. Geese are raised for the Christmas market.
Willowford Farm
Willowford is a 100-acre farm that carries a flock of 80 ewes, a dozen chickens and some cattle from the dairy herd of neighbouring Slack House Organic Farm.
About a third of the flock are upland ewes that are crossed with a Blue-faced Leicester tup to produce Mules. These are then crossed with a Suffolk or a Gotland to provide lambs that make excellent meat or wool.
The farm has a Higher Level Stewardship agreement in which we protect and enhance the varied habitats to increase biodiversity on and around the farm.
